We are excited about the 2015-2016 school year and the community service events we are planning. Below are a few reminders:

• Dues: Please submit $5.00 to Mrs. Baker-Latney

• NJHS students that attended the mandatory meeting on September 9^th received the NJHS Handbook. All members must return the “Standards of Members form” signed. This confirms your membership.

• Applications for officers are due on Friday, September 18, 2015. The application must be complete and teacher recommendations are required as well as your two hundred word essay.

• All NJHS students are required to attend all meetings. If an emergency arises and a member cannot attend a meeting, the member is required to inform the chapter adviser and provide a written excuse. Missing more than one meeting constitutes grounds for probation. Extenuation circumstances need to be addressed to the chapter adviser. Members are responsible for all information and polices presented at the meeting whether or not they attend.

• All NJHS members must to complete eighteen hours of approved community service per semester. See NJHS handbook to view acceptable service list.

Community Service

All NJHS students have the opportunity to sign up for this week community service event “Back to School Night” at Caroline Middle School. Permission forms were given to all NJHS students that expressed interested. (See Mrs. Baker-Latney)

There will is a sign-up sheet in Room C-138 for all upcoming community service opportunities for the month.

All NJHS meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays and will be held in the CMS auditorium promptly at 3:00 p.m. NJHS Students must sit in the commons area until bus dismissal  is complete.  You will be reminded of meetings by school announcements and/or emails.

In the event that a meeting needs to be changed or canceled, you would receive an email and it will be announced at school on the morning and afternoon announcements.

Missing a meeting for a sporting event or other activities is NOT a valid excuse. (Unless arrangements has been made with your advisor in advance.) As a leader, it is your responsibility to inform your coach/leader that you will be attending the first portion of your NJHS meeting.

We will have a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 2:45 – 5:00 p.m. This will be an informative meeting and it is imperative for all NJHS students to be in attendance. We will be reviewing the NJHS Handbook and review the clubs expectations manual. If you are involved in any additional after school activities please plan to attend the first portion of the meeting. Students can ride the after school activity bus home. (All students riding the activity bus must have a permission slip signed by parent or guardian prior to staying after)
